Its name derives from Greek and literally means "blood flower" - a name, with which it is also commonly known, in reference to the characteristic bright red flowers that characterize most of the species. These are beautiful plants with a bulb of an intense green color in the part, exposed to light, from which fleshy leaves grow, that protect the real jewel of this succulent: in summer, truly particular inflorescences bloom, which, with their umbrella-like habit and numerous small stamens, are similar to the hairs of a shaving brush, that are enclosed in extremely shiny and elegant petals. Often used in Africa as medicinal plants. These plants are aesthetically perfect to enhance any environment in an incredible way, giving a light and refined look to your interiors! Here are some tips for its cultivation: Requires an exposure in partial shade, as long as it still receives plenty of light throughout the year. It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 12 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period. It is advisable to always keep the soil moist enough, never dry, to prevent the bulb from drying out. Beware of stagnant water that could cause rotting. The best soil is a well draining one, for example formed by a mixture of peat and pumice so that the water does not stagnate. They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
