Astroloba rubriflora

A. rubriflora is an exemplar of South African perennial succulent that with growth can reach 25 cm in length. It has triangular and pointed leaves; arranged in the shape of a star, of opaque green color almost glaucous that with prolonged exposure to the sun tend to turn brown. The epidermis is entirely covered by a layer of whitish plum that gives it an almost waxy appearance. These succulents in their habitat grow under shrubs that protect them from the excessive exposure to the sun. Its name 'rubriflora' refers to the tubular red flowers that bloom at the apex of the plant during the summer attracting birds and thus facilitating pollination.
