It is a beautiful succulent which, with its rosette shape, seems to be almost spherical due to its perfect symmetry. The leaves are dark green, elongated and pointed, adorned along the edges by large brown thorns. The quills that cover it externally, in addition to being a very ornamental characteristic, for which it has been given the name "horrida", are strategically used by the plant in nature to protect itself from being attacked by animals. Perhaps not many know that its foliage, in the areas of its origin, is used to prepare the liqueur called "Mexcalli", whose name comes from "Mexcalmetl", a name by which Agave horrida is commonly known in Mexico!
