Othonna

Its name was attributed by the ancient Greeks to a Syriac herb, which this succulent probably resembles. It is a very vast genus, consisting of perennials, with elongated and very particular fleshy leaves, but also of deciduous plants, in which a woody caudex of the most varied and unique forms of their kind is usually presented. Sometimes they can be found as dwarf succulents, other times as shrubs. The species are therefore very different from each other, all united, however, by their unusual growth in cold months, and by the typical daisy-shaped flowers (in fact 'Asteraceae' in Greek means "star"), that will decorate your interiors, while all the other plants enter the vegetative rest! Here are some easy tips for its proper care and cultivation: It requires a lot of light throughout the year, however avoid direct sunlight. They grow well even in dim light. It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures, that should never go below 10 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period. Water with moderation but only when the soil is completely dry. Water it once a week in autumn and spring and once a month in summer. A well-draining and porous soil is an optimal solution, even better if further enriched with inert materials such as pumice or lapilli. These are plants that do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
