Description:
This is the only species of the Zamioculcas genus. It is a very slow growing evergreen plant that does not exceed 60 cm in height. It produces long sturdy and erect stems, on which shiny fleshy and lanceolate dark green leaves grow. It is also known by the names of "Padre Pio's plant", "ZZ Plant" and "Zanzibar gem". Its yellowish flowers, similar to calla lilies, bloom throughout the year. Zamioculcas zamiifolia is very easy to grow, resists well drought and high temperatures, making this plant ideal for apartments and offices.

Plant care:
It adapts perfectly to both bright and rather shady spaces, however it is preferable to avoid direct sunlight.
It likes high temperatures, in winter it is necessary to shelter it, because it would not tolerate temperatures below 15 °C.
Abundant watering is needed, if it has a lot of light, while scarce irrigation is preferable if it is shaded. Avoid water stagnation.
A soft but, above all, well draining substrate is an optimal solution, as it allows to avoid stagnation and rotting.
They do not need frequent fertilizations, it is enough to dilute fertilizer with watering once a year.
