This genus includes only one species: Zamioculcas zamiifolia. It is also known by the names of "Padre Pio's plant", "ZZ Plant" and "Zanzibar gem". It is a very slow growing evergreen plant, which does not exceed 60 cm in height. It produces tufts of long sturdy and erect stems, on which glossy fleshy and lanceolate dark green leaves grow. Throughout the year, it produces yellowish flowers, similar to calla lilies. Zamioculcas is very easy to grow, resists well drought and high temperatures - the characteristics that make this plant ideal for apartments and offices.
