Wilcoxia viperina, is a climbing plant whose name was chosen in honor of the plant enthusiast Timothy Wilcox. The term 'viper' was associated with it due to its creeping posture, like a viper. This species has a large and tuberous root which constitutes an underground reserve of water and nutrients. Its branches can reach 2 meters, while the thorns, which cover the stem, can range from light to dark shades. The stem is green and tends to darken towards the top. In summer it produces beautiful flowers that can have white, pink but also reddish shades.
