Much loved and appreciated by collectors of succulents for its crested fan shape, which makes it a unique specimen. In its normal form it is commonly called "pencil cactus", it has an elongated and slender body, with thorns so thin that it resembles hair. Also appreciated for its ease of cultivation, as it resists both direct sunlight and low temperatures. Synonym: Echinocereus poselgeri.
