It is a perennial succulent shrub, which is slightly branched. The young branches are streaked with dark irregular lines, hence the name of the species. It produces a tuberous stem, thick and woody, partially underground, on the top of which linear and glabrous leaves grow, that are up to 5 cm long, lance-shaped and slightly concave, with a rounded tip, of a wonderful dark green color; they grow arranged in an opposite way. In summer, when the plant begins to lose its leaves, beautiful tubular flowers appear, ranging in shades from yellowish-green to brown, adorned with reddish stripes.
