It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 5 °C, for this reason it is recommended to place it in sheltered places during the winter period. It requires little water in summer, only when the soil is completely dry, while it is preferable to suspend completely watering in winter. It is easy to notice if the plant requires water from the loss of turgor of its stems. The best option is to use a substrate suitable for cacti, with the addition of fine sand for good drainage. They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
