Description:

Considered an hybrid obtained artificially from the union of Sempervivum stansfieldii and Sempervivum montanum, it is a beautiful succulent plant, particularly appreciated for its magnificent variety of colors and the ability to drastically change shades according to the seasons. Made up of rosettes that tend to cluster very quickly to form large horizontal carpets that do not exceed 15 cm in height, this plant has flat, long and pointed leaves that take on pale light green tones tinged with brownish and red when most exposed to the sun. The entire skin is covered with a very thin layer of short whitish down, which allows the succulent to protect itself from the elements and retain more water inside its leaves, to be exploited in periods of drought. So, depending on the season, you will almost feel like you always have different plants! But that's not all, in fact another feature for which Sempervivum is particularly loved is undoubtedly its resistance to the most varied temperatures: sunlight is perfect, but above all it doesn’t fear low temperatures, surviving without any difficulty even under a blanket of snow!

Plant care:

It requires a lot of light during all seasons, however avoiding direct sun rays during the hottest hours of the day, as they could burn the plant.

They are very resistant to the most extreme temperatures: they grow well in the heat and resist the temperatures even below 0 °C!

They are rather sensitive to rotting, so it is advisable to water them once a week in summer, gradually reducing watering until complete stop in winter.

A well draining soil is an optimal solution, for example the one formed by a mixture of peat and sand so that water does not stagnate, since this plant is very sensitive to rotting.

They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
