Phyllobolus tenuiflorus

Wonderful succulent, consisting of massive woody caudex with asymmetric and irregular shapes, often placed partially above the ground for a purely aesthetic factor. From the caudiciform tuber thin stems branch out with peculiar cylindrical and fleshy leaves, similar to the fingers of a hand, whose opaque green epidermis is completely covered by a sort of microscopic aqueous bubbles: these are the so-called bladder cells, real water storage bags, useful for the succulent to store moisture to be exploited in times of drought! During the flowering season P. tenuiflorus will surprise you with large flowers with filiform petals (hence the Latin name of the species), which take on pleasant yellow or fuchsia tones, finely shaded towards lighter shades on the outside.
