Description:

Also known as "Malabar nut", it is an evergreen plant that can reach up to 20 m in height in nature, while cultivated in pots it grows up to the maximum of 3 m. It produces numerous caudiciform trunks, at the end of which large, bright green, glossy palmate leaves grow. From December to March in its natural habitat it blooms with beautiful, very large and particular flowers: when they open up, lively white and red stamens can be seen in the center, the petals curl towards the base of the flower and resemble banana peels. In summer, after flowering, it produces edible fruits similar to cocoa beans. Due to its very decorative and ornamental appearance, Pachira aquatica is extremely appreciated and loved, a perfect plant to give a tropical touch to your apartments!

Plant care:

It likes very bright spaces with good air exchange, but it is necessary to avoid direct sun rays that might burn it.

It prefers mild or high temperatures, when the temperature drops below 10 °C, it is advisable to shelter it.

Abundant watering is recommended in summer, with daily nebulization of the foliage to maintain humidity. In winter, reduce the water supply.

A substrate consisting of soil mixed with lapilli or sand is an optimal solution, in order to always guarantee frequent drainage and avoid stagnation.

They do not need frequent fertilizations, it is enough to dilute fertilizer with watering once a year.
