Description:

Solitary cactacea plant, consisting of globular bodies when young, which in age tend to grow in height up to one meter. The stems are of a beautiful light green, with yellow variegations that hide among the thick and long hair, making each piece unique and sought after by collectors from all over the world. This wool, for which it has become such an unmistakable cactus, is nothing more than the result of the evolution of the central thorns, which have taken on this aspect to protect the plant from frosts and the strong sun of the mountain environments from which it comes. Precisely for this white covering and for its provenance it has also been nicknamed "the old man of the Andes".

Plant care:

It requires a lot of light throughout the year, however, avoid direct sunlight.

It is better to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 4 °C, for this reason it is recommended to place it in sheltered and ventilated places during the winter.

Water moderately but only when the soil is completely dry. It is enough to water the plant once a week in spring and summer, once a month in autumn and suspend watering completely in winter.

The best soil is a well-draining one, even better if further enriched with inert materials such as pumice or lapilli.

They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
