Opuntia tilcarensis

This cactus specimen is native to Argentina and named after the city of S. Francisco de Tilcara. O. tilcarensis is a low, slow-growing cactus with long flattened, semicircular, slightly tuberculate stems. The epidermis is pale green, covered with spines. The latter are numerous, thin and needle-like with a color that varies from yellowish to brownish. Its large flowers bloom on the stems and are yellow/red in color.
