Description:

It is a wonderful succulent consisting of thin and flexible stems that reach up to 50 cm in length and tend to fall to the ground or fall into beautiful waterfalls of an intense emerald green. It is equipped with small ovate leaves of a nice dark green on the upper surface, whilst the lower surface assumes pleasant pale green tones with a marked violaceous central zone, extremely showy and ornamental. The most striking thing of Nematanthus gregarius are, without any doubt, its extravagant and abundant flowers: of an intense orange-reddish color, they have a form swollen in the lower part, which then goes to shrink at the apex in a sort of small ajar mouth, for a truly original overall appearance and very similar to real minnows (hence the name with which the specimen is commonly known as "plant of goldfish"!).

Plant care:

It loves very bright positions, being however careful not to place it under the direct rays of the sun in the hottest hours.

It prefers summer temperatures, and anyway it survives well up to 10-12 º C, which is why it is recommended to place it sheltered in winter.

It is necessary to water constantly in the summer, whenever the soil is completely dry. In winter the water supply can be drastically reduced, paying attention to possible water stagnations.

It is optimal a well draining substratum, consisting of specific loam for succulents, with addition of pumice or lapilli to make it even more porous.

It does not need frequent fertilizations, it will be sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with the water of the waterings once a year.
