Matucana calliantha

It's a globe-shaped cactus, that can cluster over time. The stem is green with pronounced tubercles, from which spines are born. The radial spines are greyish, which grow parallel to the stem, unlike the apical ones, which tend to darken. In late spring or early summer, beautiful bright red flowers bloom.
