Description:
Often called "Totem Cactus", "Totem Pole Cactus", "Totem Pole", "Monster Whisker Cactus". One of the very few monstrous plants, that can be found in nature. It grows on the sandy soils of El Arco in Baja California. A columnar plant with green and stocky stems, which grows branched at the base and rarely from the stem. The epidermis is smooth, irregular and has bumps along the stem. The flowering of L. schotti f. monster is a rare thing to happen, but when happens it is a real beauty: up to 8 incredible pink flowers bloom from individual areoles. Synonym: Pachycereus schottii f. monster.

Plant care:
It likes an exposure to full sun in rather airy locations.
It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 6 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.
Water moderately but only when the soil is completely dry. It is enough to water the plant once a week in spring and summer, and suspend watering completely in winter.
The best soil is a well-draining one, even better if further enriched with inert materials such as pumice, sand or lapilli.
They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
