Kalanchoe prolifera

This true jewel of Madagascar has an absolutely original appearance, consisting of a single trunk grooved by characteristic foliar scars, not branched, which in nature grows up to several meters high. However, it often tends to bend until it prostrates on the ground, where it quickly takes root. At the apex of the long stem thin stems with peculiar leaves become thinner: arranged like a fishbone, they get a shape similar to a boat, with the epidermis of a bright pale green enriched by reddish margins that seem almost drawn. Another really extravagant aspect is its inflorescences: at the apex of long stems fall bell-shaped wonderful flowers, whose green calyx resembles a box and encloses bright orange petalsreddish, for a complex so original as to give the succulent the common name of "box flower". A curiosity: maybe not many know that K. prolifera tends to die after flowering, but the name of the species comes from the fact that in the inflorescence many new seedlings are formed, which will allow your succulent to grow and develop with great ease!
