Huernia longii

The name of this species was chosen in honor of the English botanist Frank R. Long. Formed by slender stems that do not exceed a ten centimeters tall and keep a very reduced diameter, they have a vaguely quadrangular section, little squared compared to other species and meticulously adorned with asymmetric tubercles. Along the ribs protrude sparse whitish denticles, soft and not very pronounced. The opaque stems assume pleasant shades that form emerald green veer towards an intense purple when abundantly exposed to sunlight. One of the strengths of H. longii is undoubtedly its showy inflorescence: at the base of the stems bloom in fact wonderful stelliform flowers, smaller than the similar Huernia pillansii, and characterized by a soft yellow color, dotted with three-dimensional red dots: a spectacle of nature that will certainly not go unnoticed!
