Frerea indica

Pleasant succulent, whose name refers to India, its native area. It is a very rare plant, which grows exclusively along rocky slopes of specific areas of western India, whose slender stems reach even 50 cm in length tending to prostrate on the ground and to root quickly. Alternatively, seen the abundant lengths compared to other genera of Asclepiadaceae, they can also give life to wonderful twisted and asymmetrical waterfalls when placed in hanging pots. One of the absolutely original characteristics of Frerea indica is the presence of foliage along its slender cylindrical emerald green stems: especially at the apex of the stems, in fact, Frerea is adorned with graceful elliptical leaves and marked central veining, which tend to fall during the drier seasons. Another very loved peculiarity of the succulent is the inflorescence: as typical for many species of this family, Frerea indica shows at the end of summer wonderful star-shaped flowers, consisting of very short lobes decorated with hairy margins, in which red mixes with abundant yellow speckles to give life to an absolutely breathtaking final effect!
