Euphorbia sp. (Cap Guardafui)

The name of this plant refers to a promontory in Somalia, where the first exemplar of the species is believed to have been found. It is a beautiful succulent, for many aspects extremely similar to a cactus, first of all, the thorns of which it is equipped; however it will be much easier to associate it with the Euphorbiacee when they will emerge, in spring, the small yellow flowers characteristic of the genus Euphorbia. It has stems that do not reach remarkable heights, but tend to branch easily, maintaining a diameter of a few centimeters. The epidermis, of a nice opaque pale green, is crossed by light rhomboidal tubercles, from the centre of each of which emerge pairs of brownish thorns, rather robust and of extremely variable length, which give the succulent a pleasant wild look.
