Euphorbia mafingensis

The name of the species is a tribute to the Mafinga hills, along which the first exemplars were found. It is a wonderful plant consisting of a woody and asymmetric caudex that does not exceed 5 cm in diameter and in nature tends to remain underground, while in cultivation is generally exposed above the substrate to enjoy its extreme ornamental charm. During the vegetative season from the swollen stem depart slender stems adorned with clusters of leaves, which grow at their ends maintaining an ovate shape and gently pointed at the apex; the epidermis is tinged with a pale green color rich in veins and pleasantly shaded red when the succulent receives abundant sunlight. The evident nuances blend perfectly with the bright red of the original circular flowers that grow completely wrapped and protected by pairs of young leaves!
