The name of this species was chosen in honor of Jurgens C. J. Knober, who first discovered the specimen. It is a very original succulent shrub, consisting of a sturdy central stem with a section of 4 or 5 angles, which takes on a more or less wide diameter along the same branch depending on the period of growth, giving life to a pleasantly lively and asymmetrical trend. Along the edges the plant is equipped with paired dark thorns, robust and rather short. One of the strengths of E. knobelii is certainly the epidermis, characterized by showy horizontal bands that alternate between dark green and light-yellowish green, for an absolutely unique overall effect and extreme ornamental charm!
