Echinopsis densispina

E. densispina is an exemplar of cactus native to Argentina and Bolivia from the ovoid shape that with the growth tends to become increasingly cylindrical; initially it is solitary but with time tufts at the base. Its dark green stem has several ribs with tubercles above which are white and fluffy areoles. The thorns are the strong point of this cactaceae: the radial ones are whitish and curved towards the stem while the central ones are brown with dark and slightly curved tips. Overall, the radial and central spines form a dense net that covers the entire stem, hence the name 'densispina' (dense thorns). Its flowers bloom at the apex of the plant and have colors ranging from yellow to orange and red.
