Description:

The name of this peculiar species refers to "Malus", a genus of apples, due to the extremely unusual shape of its fleshy and spherical flowers, similar to an urn, with green shades streaked with red, with purple inside. It consists of slender cylindrical stems that do not exceed 15 cm in height and tend to prostrate themselves on the ground while maintaining a creeping and slightly wavy trend. Each stem is divided into little pronounced and tuberculate ribs, adorned with three-dimensional whitish markings at the points where it loses the fragile leaflets. The epidermis is rough to the touch and takes on changing tones from dark green to an intense purple when the succulent is abundantly exposed to sunlight.

Plant care:

It requires a lot of light throughout the year, however, avoid direct sunlight especially during the hottest hours of the day.

It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 10 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.

Water moderately but only when the soil is completely dry. It is enough to water it once a week in spring and summer, reduce watering to once every two months in autumn, and to suspend it completely in winter.

The best soil is a well-draining and porous one, even better if further enriched with 50% or more of inert materials such as pumice, lapilli or clay.

They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
