Duvalia angustiloba

Pleasant succulent that does not reach considerable heights, but rather tends to grow prostrate towards the soil, where it roots quickly until giving rise to pleasant bushes with a twisted pattern, typically found at the feet of shrubs in its origin areas. The stems are thin, of a delicate glaucous green that tends to fade towards the purple-red when the succulent receives abundant sunlight. The entire surface is covered with strong soft teeth that replace the leaves and give Duvalia an extremely dynamic character. One of the strengths of this species, as often happens for the family of the Asclepiadaceae, is without any doubt the inflorescence: from the stems depart rather long reddish stems, from which bloom very original burgundy flowers shaped like a five-pointed star, equipped with a three-dimensional central ring characterized by a sort of small candid flower and much longer and filiform outer petals (hence the name of the species which, in Latin, means "narrow lobes").
