Description:

Beautiful succulent plant consisting of a massive caudex generally bright green (it will tend to take on a lignified appearance only in mature age) and with a very varied asymmetrical shape. The caudiciform stem, in addition to giving the plant a pleasant ornamental effect, allows it in the wild to keep large quantities of water inside to be exploited in periods of drought. During the vegetative season, thin light green stems branch off, on which ovoid leaves grow, with serrated edges and rich in rather accentuated veins. The real strong point of Dorstenia, however, lies in its inflorescences: often also called "false flower", it is in fact an extravagant structure in the shape of a relatively large disc, which is actually composed of many greenish tiny flowers!

Plant care:

They grow well in dimness but require a lot of undirected light.

It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 15 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.

Water moderately, only when the soil is completely dry. It is enough to water it once a week in spring and summer, reduce watering to once every two months in autumn and to suspend it completely in winter.

The best soil is a well draining one, for example formed by a mix of peat and pumice so that water does not stagnate.

They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
