Description:

The name of D. horwoodii honors Frank Horwood, an English succulent plant grower, who first harvested it in Nugaal Province, Somalia. This Dorstenia is a rare dwarf plant with a dark green caudex, where it stores water to survive drought periods. This small succulent can reach about 5-7 cm in height. Its leaves are scalloped, of a light green color with more tenuous veins. During the vegetative rest the plant loses its leaves, which before falling take on orange shades. The green-greyish inflorescences arise from the long peduncle. Along the edges of the inflorescence you can see long ''tentacles'' that make this plant unique and special.

Plant care:

They grow well in dimness but require a lot of undirected light.

It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 15 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.

Water moderately, only when the soil is completely dry. It is enough to water it once a week in spring and summer, reduce watering to once every two months in autumn and to suspend it completely in winter.

The best soil is a well draining one, for example formed by a mix of peat and pumice so that water does not stagnate.

They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
