Conophytum sp.

Graceful dwarf succulent, which does not exceed two or three cm in height, tending rather to develop horizontally to give rise to a cushion with multiple heads, very characteristic and peculiar. Conophytum consists of large, fleshy leaves of conical shape, with a wider and almost flat apex on the upper surface. The epidermis results in an intense opaque emerald green, often enriched by showy darker dots. During the autumn, graceful bright flowers bloom from the center of the leaf, usually on notes of yellow, white or pink. Like the other Conophytum, this plant has a particular growth: the new foliage forms inside the stem and then comes out when the old leaves begin to dry; the dry leaves will be very useful during the vegetative rest of the succulent, since they will protect the new seedling as a kind of paper sheath.
