Conophytum pubescens

Really tiny succulent, consisting of inverted cone-shaped bodies that do not exceed 3 cm in height but rather tend to give life to pleasant pillows of small stems of various sizes. The epidermis is of a lively light green and is equipped with abundant translucent portions, extremely shiny and almost transparent, which allow the plant to receive sunlight up into the stem to perform the best photosynthesis chlorophyll. In autumn, elegant daisies blossom on the notes of white or yellow. Like all the species belonging to the genus Conophytum, it is astonishing to note its extreme ability of adaptation: this succulent miniature tends in fact to store considerable quantities of water in its massive leaves, to be exploited in periods of drought; is also able to reduce its volume and hide in the ground when it is in lack of water supply!
