Pot: 6,5 cm.
Very particular succulent, previously called Conophytum salmonicolor in reference to the salmon color extremely original and characteristic of its bright flowers unusually summer. Of a slow growing, often underground, C. frutescens has a pair of oval leaves that are extremely fleshy that do not exceed 3 or 4 cm in height, but tend to generate large green carpets with multiple heads. The epidermis assumes a very tenuous colouration, on the notes of the yellowish-green or of the pale bluish-grey, pleasantly streaked by darker superficial dots. Like all the species belonging to the genus Conophytum, it is amazing to notice its extreme adaptability: in fact, this miniature succulent tends to store remarkable quantities of water in its massive leaves, to be exploited during the drought periods; is also able to reduce its volume and hide in the ground when it is in lack of water supply or simply goes into vegetative rest!
