Conophytum francoiseae

Really peculiar succulent, which fully represents the name of the genus: its coupled leaves, extremely fleshy and without stem, in fact take on a perfect shape of inverted cone with wider and flat apex, of a beautiful pale, opaque light green, slightly dotted with darker green. The two leaves are completely merged, separated only at the apex by a small central fissure, from which in autumn will bloom its big daisies flowers with more showy colors. Like all the species belonging to the genus Conophytum, it is amazing to notice its extreme adaptability: in fact, this miniature succulent tends to store remarkable quantities of water in its massive leaves, to be exploited during the drought periods; is also able to reduce its volume and hide in the ground when it is in lack of water supply!
