Conophytum auriflorum

Wonderful dwarf succulent plant, whose stems do not exceed 1-2 cm in height and in diameter, assuming a conical shape with a convex top and tending to develop large cushions with multiple heads. The skin takes on a bright emerald green color, sometimes irregularly streaked with reddish depending on the sun exposure; during summer the Conophytum enter the vegetative rest and its small stems are covered by a sort of paper sheath made up of the old leaves, which protect the new shoots from high temperatures. While they are still "coated", in autumn large flowers with multiple very thin petals begin to bloom, which take on a spectacular yellow hue, so bright as to give the succulent the name of the species "auriflorum", which means "golden flowers", similar to gold.
