Its name comes from the Greek and literally the two terms from which it is composed mean "bearing" and "rubber". It is a genus that includes hundreds of species, all shrubby, which in nature become real imposing trees; therefore, all have a woody stem with clear bark, often of a paper-like appearance and tending to flake off to leave room for the green living underneath. C. simplicifolia has a lignified stem from which depart its long stems covered with leaves of intense green color. The latter have an oval shape and serrated margins.
