Commiphora habessinica, also known as C. abyssinica, is a very widespread plant, its habit varies from low and thorny shrubs in the driest areas, to medium-sized trees with a distinct trunk and large leaves in more fertile zones. The bark of this plant flakes off, and when cut comes out a resin, also called myrrh, which has a pleasant smell. In ancient times, myrrh was used as an ingredient in traditional Arab medicine.
