Ceropegia haygarthii

We are talking about a succulent undoubtedly peculiar and innovative, perhaps for this reason so much sought after and loved by collectors and connoisseurs. It has a robust growth with its tubular stems with a diameter that does not reach the centimeter, while in length it can even exceed 3 meters! Due to its imposing lengths it is a plant that tends to crawl on the ground or climb along other vegetation, exploiting them exclusively as physical support. The characteristic for which C. haygarthii is undoubtedly unique is the inflorescence: its flowers are extremely sophisticated, up to 4 cm long and similar to a cage, consisting of a cream-colored tube, dotted with purplish or brown, which widens to funnel. Its petals are mobile, that is, they allow insects to enter and then close and retain them until they are sufficiently impregnated with pollen to disperse it abundantly outside: a truly ingenious stratagem that nature has devised to allow the reproduction and which, at the same time, gives life to a truly unique ornamental show!
