The name A. baeseckei honors Paul Baesecke, a German botanist and collector. This is a small, slow-growing succulent plant that grows easily and takes on a groundcover habit. The feature that makes it distinctive is its small, underground caudex where it stores water to survive drought periods. From its erect and short stems green, compact, fleshy, rounded leaves grow, which are covered with a light-colored felt. With the prolonged exposure to the direct sun this succulent plant takes on a purplish color. In summer you can admire its beautiful dark pink flowers. This plant is easy to cultivate and is also perfect for beginners.
