The genus name Amorphophallus is derived from the Greek word "amorphos" - "deformed", while the word "atroviridis" is derived from Latin and means "dark-gray", which refers to the color of the leaves. In the wild, A. atroviridis grows on rocky cliffs close to the Sara Buri location in Thailand. The stems are long, of a reddish-brown color, and at the end of the stems distinctive leaves grow: large, lance-shaped, of a dark green to brownish color, with numerous veins and light purple margins. In summer you can admire its beautiful cream-colored inflorescence.
