Description:

Wonderful specimen of cultivar that is very appreciated for its extremely particular appearance. The crested form of this fat plant shows a fan-like crest, a mutation that will never be identical in different plants; for this reason each specimen will be unique and highly sought after by collectors all over the world. In the normal form A. procera is a thorny succulent tree with erect bearing, with a woody stem , rarely branched from which several rigid spines emerge. Small, round green leaves appear below its thorns. This succulent prickly pear will give beautiful flowers with petals of intense yellow color, which bloom at the apex of the stems creating a strong contrast with the green of the leaves, for a very attractive visual impact.

Plant care:

It requires a full sun exposure, since it requires plenty of light all year around. When the plants are still very young it is advisable to prottingect them from direct sun rays during the hottest hours of the day.

It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 10 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.

Water moderately only when the soil is completely dry. It is enough to water the plant once every two weeks in spring and summer, once every two months in autumn and completely suspend watering in winter.

A well draining soil is an optimal solution, for example formed by a mixture of peat and sand so that the water does not stagnate.

They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
