A. ascendens is a beautiful succulent with an unmistakable look thanks to its stem entirely covered by leaves and thorns. The leaves are fleshy, heart-shaped, green and when exposed to the sun for a long period, they get reddish hues. Its greyish thorns are robust and about 2 cm long. In its natural habitat, semi-desert forest of Madagascar, it can reach a maximum height of about 12-15 metres. During the blooming period it gives us beautiful flowers with a white or opaque red color. This plant is easy to cultivate and for this reason also suitable for neophytes.
