Description:

A widely known and beloved succulent due to its simple yet majestic characteristics. With the typical rosette shape that, in nature, reaches a meter and a half in diameter, it is formed of flat and wide leaves, longer than 50 cm and culminating in a point less rigid and sharp than the other agave species (hence the latin name that means “weak”). The epidermis is pleasantly tenuous, of a beautiful opaque green which tends to a bluish tone, covered in a sort of bloom that protects it from weathering and gives it its typical elegant and delicate look. When it reaches maturity from the center of the rosette, a stem up to several meters long grows, completely studded with small clusters of greenish-white flowers that fall like a sort of gigantic curved ear (hence the common name of “Swan neck Agave”).

Plant care:

It requires a full sun exposure, even if it can stand a partial shade one only if it receives plenty of light all year around.

It prefers rather mild temperatures, however it survives even in temperatures close to freezing if the soil is dry.

Water moderately but only when the soil is completely dry. Once every two weeks in spring and summer and once every two months in autumn and winter.

A well-draining soil is an optimal solution, even better if further enriched with inert materials such as pumice, sand or lapilli.

They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
