The name of the genus Adromischus means "abundant stem" and derives from the Greek words "adros" (abundant) and "mischòis" (stem). It is a dwarf succulent plant of a compact shape that grows and develops a caudex where it stores water to survive drought periods. Its green-grey, fleshy, orbiculated leaves often have reddish spotting. In late spring, it blooms with small white or pink flowers on long stems. This relatively slow-growing succulent plant vegetates in autumn and is very susceptible to rotting throughout the year.
