In the name ‘Monadenium aff. orbanchoides’, "aff."’ stands for "similar" (in Italian "affine"), this means that the plant has not been officially classified yet. It was found in Tanzania and was temporarily given the name 'aff. orbanchoides' ('similar to orbanchoides'). It is a caudiciform plant with green and fleshy leaves, that during the vegetative rest loses both the leaves and the stem, to grow them back during the vegetative period. In its caudex it stores water to survive during drought periods.
