Also known as the "African wild potato", Hypoxis hemerocallidea is a perennial plant characterized by the large brown caudex, surrounded by thick hair that resembles bristles. During the growing season, magnificent bright green leaves emerge from the caudex, long and flat and arranged one on top of the other. In the period running from September to January, beautiful vibrant yellow flowers, reminiscent of graceful stars in the shape and positioning of the petals, revive the appearance of H. hemerocallidea. According to traditional African medicine, it is a miracle medicine for many ills, and is thought to have significant benefits on the immune system.
