Cussonia paniculata (Succulents)

Wonderful caudiciform succulent, particularly appreciated in cultivation for its swollen and barky caudex often perfectly rounded at the base, from which it then tends to grow as a cylindrical and asymmetrical stem perfect to enrich the most selected collections. Strongly webbed leaves branch off at the apex of the trunk, consisting of multiple lobes with jagged edges and lighter veins along the bright sage green surface. In nature Cussonia paniculata instead grows like a gigantic shrub that can reach up to 5 meters in height, branching abundantly and showing a thick and peculiar crown like a real tree, in the middle of which stand out large cylindrical spikes of graceful yellowish flowers (the name of the species in Latin means precisely “equipped with cobs”). Recent studies, still under development, have shown that the bark of this species also possesses unexpected pharmacological properties!
