Gasteria (Monstrous)

Gasteria

Its name comes from Greek and literally means "stomach", for the characteristic shape of the flower, swollen at the base and narrower at the top, which makes it look like a sack. It is a genus rather similar to Aloe (with which, in fact, it is often hybridized), constituted by long and flat fleshy rosette-shaped or, sometimes, forked leaves. The leaves usually have a silky texture, but there are rather refined species, in which the typical dark green color is interrupted by three-dimensional streaks or whitish warty dots. Commonly known as "ox tongue" or "lawyer's tongue", because of the lingual shape of its foliage, it can be cultivated in a very simple way and requires very little attention. It is a perfect plant to decorate working environments, as well as for beginners with little experience!
