The monstrous shape of a cactaceae has abnormalities in the shape or lack of thorns; such anomalies never occur identical in plants thus making each plant unique and much sought after by collectors around the world. In its normal form it is a columnar cactus that can reach large sizes, up to 4m tall. Its main stem has a color that can vary from olive green to silver and tends to create branches that arch like a candlestick. Its flowering occurs in spring or autumn and its nocturnal flowers are white funnel-shaped. As they develop, they become fruit reminiscent of pumpkins.
