Opuntia vulgaris (Cactus)

It is a very fast growing shrubby cactus plant, also known by the more common name of "prickly pear". Its smooth and flattened stem has sparse areoles of a light color, from which long spines emerge. Flowering occurs in late spring, blooming with beautiful yellow-orange flowers.
