Opuntia rhodantha var. pisciformis (Cactus)

It is a perennial plant, also known as "prickly pear of the plains". It has dark green stems, which are covered with small light brown downy areoles and yellow or reddish quills. Its numerous and long spines are of a white to white-gray color, while the upper ones are of brown shades. In spring and summer, it blooms with small yellow, magenta and orange flowers.
